Fitbit Versa 2 Review – Complete Guide

After Fitbit’s first Versa watch, Versa 2 has launched and it has come with a bang in the market to compete with Apple Watch and Garmin fitness watches. Versa 2 is refined with a tweak, major performance upgrades, and won’t empty your pockets.

Aiming at fitness enthusiasts, this wearable is more than just an excellent fitness tracker. So, is it worth buying? Let’s check it out in the Fitbit Versa 2 review below:

Design and display

Fitbit has always introduced new and solid designs with their smartwatches in the market. The new “Squircle” design in Versa 2 is embraced by users and the wearable looks very similar to its predecessor. Although, the newer one looks more stylish than the predecessor. This wearable is a bit thicker than Apple Watch 3 and has a screen size of 40mm- so it should fit most wrists.

There is no branding of ‘Fitbit’ on the bottom bezel this time which makes them thinner- giving you a lot more screen than before. The new Versa 2 packs a single button on the left which acts as both the ‘select’ and the ‘back button. In the last Versa, we saw that it had three buttons- two on the left and one on the right. So, you can now access every feature from just one button while other navigations can be done via the touchscreen.

Coming to the screen, the Fitbit Versa 2 packs a bright AMOLED touchscreen protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Now, this is a major improvement to the Versa series. This screen is capable of touching 1,000nits brightness and 300 x 300 pixels resolution. The screen is crisp and gets bright according to the environment you are in. The best thing about this display is that it is an always-on option. You just have to turn it on by going into settings as it is switched off by default.

Interface and Performance

Yes, the screen is great and we love it. Now, coming to the performance, the Versa 2 is great too. It is faster than its predecessor as it is packing a new processor under the hood. The original Versa has never suffered from any lags or stutters but Versa 2 is even better in smoothness. You will notice it while performing different tasks and various operations like navigating between pages, launching and closing apps, and bringing up health data in the Today pane.

Talking about the battery, the Versa 2 packs a decent battery life. Fitbit claims that it can offer five days of battery life with standard use. Dim the screen brightness and you can push it over to six days.

You can choose the wrist face from hundreds of designs that you can find in the Fitbit app. Although, you can only save one face at a time. Swipe from right to left, you can access the app launcher. You can also customize the app shortcuts from there. Just swipe up to get Fitbit

Fitness and sleep tracking

Fitbit is known for paying attention to fitness enthusiasts and Versa 2 is no different. You can just wear it and start your daily routine by recording your activities and calories. Using the SmartTrack technology, you need to have your phone with you and you won’t be able to see real-time statistics – drawback! You can select an exercise routine and produce some accurate stats. Yes, this device doesn’t have built-in GPS and that’s why the distance traveled doesn’t come right at times. Versa 2’s biggest USP can be its sleep tracking ability and now you get a score for each night’s sleep.

Fitbit Premium is another way to track your fitness levels and improve health. It starts at $9.99/month – or $79.99/year and you get guided access to guided workouts and personalized insights. You can apply for Software Tester Jobs to know about this field.

Final Verdict

If you have never used Fitbit Versa, then the new Versa 2 is a great proposition in the market. Coming at an affordable price, the design of the new Versa 2 has been tweaked, the watch looks premium, has a butter-smooth display, and is faster than before.

The addition of Alexa brings something new to the board but it is not implemented perfectly. You can receive notifications from texting applications like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger but it does not support all messaging platforms. Also, the watch doesn’t support Spotify fully and no built-in GPS is present.

If they were implemented in this wearable at the same pricing, it would have been a very compelling deal. Adding more to it, Apple being the smartwatch leader and Apple Watch 3 prices going down after the launch of Watch 5, Apple Watch 3 is still a better choice if you don’t care about battery life.
